Whirlwind of a weekend

I had a busy but fun weekend. Saturday brought me to Pekin, attending a baby shower for a mutual friend from college. I took Avery along and thankfully she only had one short meltdown. She just sat at the table, content coloring with the paper that had the games on it. She was in heaven when the hostess came by with the Crayola Color Wonder set; she had enough for all the kids in attendance. I found myself coloring with them as well. I love showers, but I sat in the back and couldn't see anything, so I was easily distracted. It was nice to see people my age with children; Kendra brought her 4 1/2 month old with her; and of course Jen had her little one kicking around in her tummy. I wish I lived closer so that I had interaction with people my own age who are parents...

Sunday was a bum day; Bryon finished the mountain of laundry reminiscent of my college days while I colored some more with Avery. I was glad when today came, because it was just Av and I. We colored some more, watched "Elmo's World--" 3 times, went to McDonald's and shared chicken nuggets, and watched Sesame Street. I really wanted to take her outside, but she was running a slight fever for a while. She's also gnawing on her pacifier like there's no tomorrow, so I imagine she's getting more molars in.

I'm not really looking forward to week 2 of the 4 day work week. It seems funny to me, because many times I'm there at 7:45 and don't leave until 5:30. It's just that someone's making me stay from 5:30-7:30. I have a lot to do this week; hopefully my meetings aren't cancelled again.

Time to pack lunch and set out clothes for tomorrow. And of course, get some sleep. I've decided I'm not taking naps on Mondays so that I don't get sleepy during the afternoons at work.
