Well, I survived my first two weeks back at work. It was really tough; really tough. I felt guilty because after 10 hours of work each day, I'd come home dog tired and just didn't have the energy I needed to spend quality time with both kids. I tried really hard, but it's going to take some major adjusting. Luckily, I was able (thanks to my gracious boss) to change my work hours from 8-6 to 7:30-5:30 so I didn't have to make Bryon pick both kids up, feed Brennan AND get dinner ready for the rest of us.
I can say that the daycare my kids attend is the best; I am so lucky and blessed to have nurturing teachers who truly care about the kids. For instance, Avery is 95% potty trained and one of her teachers has gone out of her way (and I'm sure out of her mind!) to make sure Avery used the potty frequently enough to engrain it in her head. Thank you so much!! I already knew Brennan's teachers were awesome because Avery was in that room at one time, but they always write a little story about something Brennan did during the day. I love them. It makes leaving them there a tiny bit easier. :)
We have some exciting things coming up soon: thanks to some perks of my job, we are able to take a mini-vacation to St. Louis. I am fortunate enough to earn free hotel nights and keep them for personal use, so we are able to take our time at the zoo, hang out at the hotel for the evening, then hit the outlet mall the next day on our way home...I can't wait. I have been so frugal because I knew I would need some bigger pants and skirts while I work off the "baby fat," and the outlet mall will allow me to purchase a few things. I can also get Brennan a few more sleep 'n plays for those chilly evenings, as well as a cute outfit for Avery. I think the trip will be exhausting but some great family memories!
We also plan to attend the Peoria Air Show in July because Avery just loves planes. We are also hosting a cookout for some of our local friends and some who try and make it down every year...it's nice to have people come to us once in a while; we are typically the ones doing the traveling since we live way out here.
The summer is shaping up to be a fun and busy one...I also have the honor of being my best friend's right-hand woman during her wedding day, and I cannot wait to see her marry the man of her dreams.
What a summer!

Lish, I'm glad your boss is so great - but I'm surprised you work such long days!
It sounds like you have a terrific summer ahead of you. :) Have fun!
You're a great mom!
Bonnie, we only work 4 days a week; we get every Monday off so that makes for 10-hour days the rest of the week. :)
