The holiday that stresses me out the most

...isn't Christmas, Thanksgiving or even Mother's Day. It's Avery's birthday. Why, you ask? Because it's the one holiday I completely control and want to make sure that 1) everyone can get here and 2) Avery has a good time and isn't overwhelmed. I hope I don't become the mom to order all that fancy stuff- clowns, ice sculptures, moon jumpers, etc. I probably won't unless I win the lottery. Plus, Avery's still a little young to have a friends-exclusive party, but I've already heard some stories about older kids and the goody bags they hand out at the end....YIKES! I'm not spending $10 on each goody bag! I personally remember something simple at the parties I went to, or the coolest party I ever went to we decorated our own t-shirts and took them home. I think I'd rather do that instead.

I stress out the most about her birthday pictures though. I don't know why, I guess when she looks back at the photos she can honestly say that I never made her wear anything "embarrassing." I got to wear frilly dresses, yuck. lol I just like dressing her in something fun that suits her laid-back, tomboy personality with a little girly details...which includes spending a little more than I usually want to, but it's the only photo outfit I purchase...M-I-L purchases the Easter dress; my mom purchases the Christmas dress.

This year I have everything I need except a cute top, and I found the cutest thing at crazy8.com (the less expensive store in the Gymboree family.) It's a cute, red cardigan with a tank top underneath, and I think it'll be perfect. Plus, she'll be able to actually wear it at her party without me freaking out about cake getting all over it...

I can't wait for next year when baby boy turns 1 and Avery turns 4...2 weeks apart. I guess we can combine family birthday parties and give Avery one with 3-4 friends...but that's still over a year away.

Better start planning now.
