Okay, I really wanted pictures to accompany my narrative on our first family vacation, but I'm having problems with my camera and took 30 minutes for my photos to upload on Facebook. You can refer to that album if you need a visual reference.
Day 1: Sunday We arrive early Sunday afternoon, and it's gorgeous out. Our resort is PACKED, and we're told to find a parking spot and keep it for the evening. No problem. We get into our cute little "cabin" on the lake (really one of four rooms 20 yards from the lake) and drop everything. We head to the pool, which we can barely get to because of all the people. But it's warm, and we're enjoying our first day.
Day 2: Memorial Day. We wake up to rain. Lots and lots of rain. We venture out to Panera for breakfast (we had a gift card from Christmas), then head to the outlet mall. It's HUGE!! We get some shopping in before the deluge returns and the crowds start rolling in. Avery and Bryon scored huge deals, but I didn't find much.
We get back to the room for Avery's nap, and it gets sunny out! Woo! Well, by the time Avery wakes up, it starts POURING. I mean POURING. It probably rained 2 inches in an hour. It starts to back up and fill up our porch. Then we walk in the bedroom and the carpet is SOAKED. The window filled up with water and had started seeping into the room. We packed as fast as we could; luckily the room above ours was open and we were able to move up there.
Day 3: Tuesday. See rain from day 2. It just rains and rains and rains. We did get to swim for an hour that afternoon, and then after the next round of rain, we went mini-golfing. It was a pirate theme, and Avery got a hat and flag from the owners. :)
Days 4 and 5 blurred together, but we went to the indoor waterpark and back to the outlet mall. The sales were better for me that day and I picked up a few items I really needed for work. The waterpark was awesome, but we were the only ones there and the huge bucket scared Avery. She cried the entire time.
It was a rainy first family vacation, but fun. It was fun to go somewhere with daddy and daughter and have no internet or work access and just focus on us. We will definitely go back!
