I'm No Cook

I got a second wind of ambition today and decided to bake Christmas cookies. I looked online for some unique recipes, and found one with the Disney Family logo...which usually means they're for beginners. Chocolate Peppermint Chocolate Chip Cookies sounded good to me, so off I went. I decided to start with those pre-made batches from Betty Crocker that makes you add an egg and butter. Easy enough. Obviously I didn't mix the butter in well enough, because they came out looking funky. They still tasted good. Then I moved on to the disney recipe. Everything looked good...until I pulled them out of the oven. Flatter than a board. I noticed the recipe only called for 1 1/2 cups of flour, which for a moment I questioned, then went ahead. Note to self: do "tester" cookies first. I still have rice crispy treats to make, as well as the candy cane cookies- the ones you dye 1/2 the dough red then twist together. I figured those would be fun to make with Avery. Poor kid, I can't bake, even with my Amish heritage. I did make really good veggie soup yesterday though.

On another note, Bryon's next to me on the couch, hacking away. He came home early to go to the doctor; luckily he only has a sinus infection, not strep. My body, on the other hand, is doing an excellent job of fighting all these germs. :)
